Trainers are having a major fashion moment right now and with super comfort and low maintenance as their main qualities, can anyone blame mega trendsetters like Rita Ora and Rihanna for firmly stamping them on the fashion map?
Most fashionistas have probably bought a pair of Hi-Tops over the summer as Guiseppe Zanotti and Isabel Marant lead the way for Sportswear Coolism. However, there is a new way to add a touch of Post Olympic Chicness (creating my own trends here!) to your outfits.
Low tops showcase your biggest fashion accessory this autumn; YOUR ANKLES! They are also a lot more versatile than the spotlight hogging hi-top and come in an array of colours, patterns and styles.
I wore mine with a peter pan collar dress to balance out the masculinity associated with trainers. However, the tough looking leather jacket keeps the look edgy. Glam Grundge meets Sports Luxe might just be the hottest collaboration this season after Maison Martin Margiela for H&M!
Add fishnet tights to really vamp up the grundge factor.
STYLE TIP: Everyone is wearing trainers at the moment! Try and wear yours differently by clashing colours and prints, wearing bright socks or wearing ankle cuffs to draw even more attention to those ankles!
Trainers: The one’s I’m wearing are Nike Safari and were £69.99 the lovely neon pair are Nike Safari Lunar Fusions and retail at £89.99
Balenciaga: Fashion, Sexy, Art, Clean….Kristin Stewart…
These are all the words that I associate with Haute Parisian Fashion House, Balenciaga. So when I first clapped my short sighted eyes on their DEBUT handbag, I was not surprised that I instantly fell in love.
Look at it! It’s perfection! Made from natural calfskin with an exquisite ivory leather interior, The Pierre portrays Balenciaga perfectly. The brand’s creative director Olivier Rousteing, and French jeweler Aurélie Bidermann have joined forces to bring this well crafted beauty to us.
And by us, I mean those who can afford the $4,350 pricetag!
I was going to write an ellaborate lie about how I could totally afford it but would rather spend the money on a new car but…erm who am I kidding eh? I’m a proud (self named) ambassador of the UK high street and I immediately searched for a Pierre dupe online!
Zara NEVER disappoints me, and here we have our very own four thousand dollar handbag that can’t hold much more than my iPad and umbrella for only £59.99.
Zara! I salute you!
Anonymous said: I love all 3 , but I don't have any military inspired shirt . I was thinking of pairing the jeans with a denim shirt do you think that would look good ?
Denim On Denim is a massive trend and to me, the best way to wear it is by clashing colours. A denim shirt will make the outfit casual but can easily be dressed up by layering it with a heavy duty necklace.
Roll the sleeves of the shirt over a leather jacket for a unique twist. Denim’s best friends are leather and a whole heap of attitude!
Anonymous said: Hey (: I love your fashion sense ... so can you help me ? what would top would you wear with a pair of burgandy colored jeans ?
Hey! Thanks for the compliment.
Burgundy is a beautiful colour and really on trend at the moment. You could obviously wear it with black but that’s quite obvious. Burgundy fits in perfectly with the military trend this fall and would look really good with camo print tops and jackets.
The one above is from Zara and retails at £29.99. But if camo isn’t your thing, khaki and oher earthy tones such as forest green would look great too.
Asos Utility Shirt £35
But if none of that tickles your fancy, go for white. White is always a classic from vests, to simple crew neck tops or slim fit shirts. If you are going white, try tucking the top into your jeans and wearing a statement neck piece to really up the game.
Hope I’ve been some help!
Trends On Trial: Short Hair Don’t Care
Is anyone surprised that I’ve changed my hair yet again? Nope? Didn’t think so!
Everyone’s been going for the big chop recently, not just my hairstyle role model Rihanna. Tia Mowry, Myley Cyrus and Anne Hathaway have all been made members of #TeamShortHair so to me, that 100% made it a trend worth trialing!
How do I feel about my new cut? Bald! I know it’s not exactly a skin fade but my fringe was like my armour. Short hair allows your whole face to be up for scrutiny which is more daunting than words can describe.
Overall though, I’ve recieved positive feedback, and no one has said to me I look like a boy, well at least not to my face!
I do actually like it now I’m used to it, it allows me to be bolder with my make up too, and we all know how happy make up makes me!
Trends On Trial verdict: 8/10
OOTD: Studded Up
Okay, admittedly this is more outfit of A day not THE day, but I’m sure it still counts.
Those of you who follow me on instagram (@chimmylawson) will have already seen this outfit, but I’m just going to give you the lowdown on each item, especially this luxe studded jacket.
The Jacket is part of Mango’s Suit range and was an absolute steal at only £39.99. Mango is fast becoming my favourite high street chain with it’s “could be designer” look and quality. They still have this jacket in stock so get yourself down to your local store or have a look online at www.mango.com
My aubergine trousers are from Warehouse, and although you cannot tell from the picture, they are high waisted and made of a very flattering jersey type material.
Aubergine, Oxblood and Khaki are all massive trends for Autumn Winter and next time I wear these trousers I will definitely be combining those colours.
STYLE TIP: Flashing a bit of ankle can be incredibly sexy but can make petite girls look a bit stumpy. If you are lucky enough to come in a small package, try wearing ankle grazers with pointed or nude courts to elongate the frame.
Lady in Red…
Last night was a rare occurance for me, I stepped outside my house after hours to go to a…club.
People are often scared of the colour red but it is actually one of the few colours that suits EVERY skin tone.
This figure hugging dress is by Forever Unique and it fits like an absolute glove. At the moment I am terrified of body con dresses but I was able to overcome this fear by the clever frilling on this dress. Details distract the eye from certain problem areas which is a great confidence booster.
Teamed with purple Office heels and purple NARS lips the outfit is complete. Red goes with most colours, you just have to own it, if you want to wear a red jumpsuit with green platforms then go for it! Red screams confidence so make sure you feel it.
Hello Mr(s) Nice Watch
Bargain to Blowout
Arm Candy is just as big as “Nail Porn” right now and the nice watch trend is leading the way for decorated wrists.
After becoming increasingly bored of my gold plated Michael Kors watch, I’m on the hunt for something bigger, better and blacker!
Black is the new black for Autumn/Winter and it’s always good to kick start a trend by using accessories.
Left to Right
Bargain: Fossil FS4552 Stainless Steel Watch - £135
Pay Day Treat: Hugo Boss Black Leather Chro Watch - £309

• Why is your blog called Love & Lawson?
- My name is Chimmy Love Lawson so it’s literally just me playing around with my name.
• How old are you?
- 21 but i like to think I’m 19
• Where do you work?
- I’m a freelance everything! Journalist, Stylist and Wardrobe Consultant. I never want to be boxed in one profession.
• Who does your hair?
- I do it myself and sadly I’m really rubbish at doing other people’s hair
• Where in the World are you from?
- London, England but I would love to live somewhere else for a few months
•How did you get into fashion?
- I’ve always liked clothes and I’m fascinated with style as a whole. I’ve always dreamt about people recognising me as a well dressed woman. One day I hope to be a style icon.
Everytime I walk into MAC or visit a NARS counter, I always intend on leaving with more experimental make up. It NEVER happens. I am surely a creature of monotomus habbit.
Until now!…? Kind of…my foundation and eye make up remains unchanged. I mean, last time I checked, it wasn’t broken so why should I “fix” it?
But my new daily lip looks feature bolder choices and I’m rather proud of myself! I’m gonna try an orangey hue next, watch this space!
Lip shades look different on different skin tones. It’s always best to try before you buy! But if you do end up buying a colour you don’t like, DON’T throw it away, mix it with another lipstick and create something unique.

Wait, is the picture above really Cheryl Cole? How can it be? Where is the mega Bardot-esque bouffant hair? The double winged eyeliner? The controversial Diane Von Furstenberg purple pallazzos? They have gone, well for now…
The original Geordie Shore lass has replaced her favourite Louboutins with Narciso Rodriguez minimalistic mules. And it’s not just the shoes that have been classed up! Cheryl’s whole outfit has been touched by the minimal wand.
Personally, I think the Northern beauty looks amazing. Now her style has been changed up, maybe now she can change her surname back to Tweedy hmmm?
Do you like Ms err..Cole’s new look?
